Ground On Command

Motor Operated Ground Switch

Temporary shorting grounds for safety of maintenance personnel – Provides ground only after special safety procedures and commanded, not during normal power use

Includes Safety Interlocks – Must prevent accidental or unintended grounding; include electrical interlocks and mechanical isolation of the source of power

  • Only Switch That Meets Metal Clad Insulated Bus Requirements of ANSI/IEEE C37.20.2

  • Temporary Maintenance Grounding

  • Aux Contacts Enable Interlocks w/Potential Energy Sources

  • Significantly Reduce LOTO Process Time

  • Meets the intent of ANSI/IEEE C37.20.2 and C37.20.6 Ground and Test Devices

  • Internal Voltage Sensing Using Voltage Dividers In Accordance With ANSI/IEEE C37.20.2

  • 125V DC Control

  • 50kA RMS Momentary Withstand

  • 2sec Short Time Withstand

  • 95kV BIL

  • 5/15kV Standard Rated Voltage

LOTO Process-Based Association with Mimic Panel

  • IDENTIFY: Recognize energy sources

  • NOTIFY: Inform personnel of pending lockout using visible mimic status

  • SHUTDOWN: Set switch to TRIP (breaker open)

  • ISOLATE: Use RACK OUT to remove breaker from bus

  • VERIFY: Use test jacks to confirm zero volts

  • GROUND: Confirm MAINT. GROUNDED is active (zero residual energy)

  • LOCKOUT: Apply mechanical lock on RACK OUT state

  • TAGOUT: Attach warning tag with responsible technician ID

  • SERVICE: Proceed with safe maintenance

  • REMOVE: Authorized person removes lock and tag

  • RESTORE: Set RACK IN, CLOSE, confirm safe re-energization
